The story behind the stack
We believe the future of supply chains traceability is undifferentiated.
We believe there will be no "winner-takes-all"
Our History
We have learnt a lot about supply chain traceability and transparency, and we are excited to share our journey with you.
Tackling the problem of supply chain traceability
We began our journey of trying to solve the worlds supply chain traceability and transparency problems. Going deep on all kinds of supply chains, desperately trying to build a solution that met the needs of all stakeholders.
The Blockchain Wave
The world saw a wave of hype around blockchain and crypto. Like most, we were excited thinking a solution was just around the corner and consensus would be reach.
The implementation gap
No clear winner emerged. Industries were left dazed, confused, and disheartened that no tangible progress was made in the preceeding decade. Features and concerns for global targets and goals for 2030 across a spectrum of industries and ESG goals were being discussed, but the reality was that no technology was not ready for widespread adoption.
We need protocols, not platforms
Through community activation from others, we realized and adopted the mantra of "protocol over platform". The solution was never going to be one or a few platforms, but a set of protocols that could be used by any supply chain application solution provider.
The Trust Stack
We took stock of the different protocols, standards, and frameworks we had embedded within our own supply chain applications over the years. We realized that the world would be a better place if we could all adopt these protocols, fostering data discovery and interopability to solve existing and emerging supply chain issues. The Trust Stack is our attempt to do just that.
Undifferentiated vs Differentiated
What is actually important in your application and for your users and customers?
What features and functionality will actually differentiate you from the competition?
We believe no single platform will solve the problem of supply chain traceability and transparency. Protocols and standards will begin to proliferate, with market pressures for more data systems to adopt them.
New and emerging software and applications, from on-farm management systems, inventory and warehousing applications, to logistics and transportation management systems, will all need to adopt these protocols.
Your customers, and users, as well as end consumers will begin to demand this, with the assumption features pertaining to data discover, digital production passports, and verifiable credentials are standard, and part of the bare minimum expectation of any supply chain application.
As adoption proliferates, time and effort to implement these protocols will become entirely undifferentiated and will not set your apart from your competitors.
As Jeff Bezos famously said - focus only on what "makes your beer taste better." That's where we come in. We handle the undifferentiated heavy lifting so you can pour your energy into the features and experiences that make your product truly unique (and maybe grab that celebratory beer along the way 🍺).
Don't pull your hair out trying to implement protocols and standards in house. Go back to making your beer taste better, and focus on building that next great set of features that your customers actually care about.
